Pagatan Usaha Makmur (PUM), through its PLUM Project in Central Kalimantan, is implementing a 23,665-hectare nature-based restoration initiative that combines ecosystem restoration, carbon trade (including blue and green carbon from mangrove and peatland conservation), and circular-economy business ventures such as converting rice husks into bio‐fertiliser sourced from local farmers.
The project aims not just at supporting Indonesia’s net-zero by 2060 target and enhancing biodiversity, but also at empowering around 2,200 local residents and 800 farmers across seven villages to generate inclusive economic benefits and treat sustainability as a tangible growth opportunity rather than merely a corporate obligation.
