Hutan Kencana Damai Project
(PT HKD)

Preservation and restoration of Sungai Putri peatland forest landscape in West Kalimantan, Indonesia

log_hkd.jpg

Hutan Kencana Damai (HKD) focuses on the preservation and restoration of the Ketapang peatland forest landscape in West Kalimantan, covering an area of 12,868 hectares. This project aims to restore degraded peatland ecosystems, prevent deforestation,  protect biodiversity, and empower the local community.

Over 60 years its lifetime, the project is expected to deliver significant climate benefits, with an estimated 4,613,775 tCO₂e in greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions and 2,085,575 tCO₂e in GHG removals. By combining forest protection with ecosystem restoration, the HKD Project demonstrates a scalable model for integrating environmental conservation with global carbon market mechanisms.

Climate

The project will reduce 4,613,775 tCO₂e in greenhouse gas (GHG)  and remove 2,085,575 tCO₂e in GHG during the project's lifetime in 60 years through: fire prevention control, development of Fire Danger Rating System (FDRS), Canal blocking, and Climate monitoring; water table and subsidence on peatland area.

COMMUNITY (2).png
Community

Our scientific approach to biodiversity conservation employs regular surveys, population monitoring, and habitat patrols—creating a protective framework as robust as our carbon accounting.
