The article reports that Pagatan Usaha Makmur (PUM) has positioned its PLUM Project in Central Kalimantan as a comprehensive nature‐based solution to accelerate Indonesia’s path toward its 2060 net-zero emissions target. By conserving and restoring 23,665 hectares of peatland and mangrove, the project integrates ecosystem recovery, community empowerment and international carbon credit issuance under a Climate-Community-Biodiversity (CCB) framework.

PUM emphasises that decarbonisation must be woven into business models, not treated as an add-on, and has embedded Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices including independent monitoring and transparent reporting.

While carbon trading regulations are still being finalised, PUM has laid the groundwork via FPIC, social impact assessments and circular-economy initiatives like biochar production from rice husks, aiming to provide inclusive economic roles for more than 2,200 residents across seven villages rather than leaving them as passive beneficiaries.
