The West Kalimantan Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA), together with Yayasan Inisiasi Alam Rehabilitasi Indonesia (YIARI) and PT Hutan Kencana Damai (HKD), successfully relocated a mother orangutan and her infant from a rubber-plantation area in Tempurukan Village of Ketapang Regency due to repeated incursions into the plantation and signs of habitat disturbance.
The relocation process on 1 November 2025 involved sedation and transport to a safer forest area considered representative for orangutan survival, illustrating the challenges of balancing human land use and the conservation of this endangered species.
